Key Responsibilities

  • planning and organising the range and mix of entertainment, attractions, amusement machines and fitness programs to be offered by the centre
  • organising publicity to promote facilities and attract clients
  • scheduling games and competitions
  • selecting, training and supervising staff
  • ensuring facilities are properly maintained and conform to safety standards
  • may undertake coaching, fitness instruction and training of clients
  • may plan and organise catering facilities.

Education, Training and Skills Pathways

  • You usually need management experience or extensive industry experience to work as a Sports Centre Manager.  While formal qualifications aren’t essential, a Vocational Education and Training (VET) or university course in business, fitness or sports and recreation management may be useful.
  • Qualifications include: Certificate IV in Sport & Recreation, Diploma of Sport and Recreation Management, Diploma of Community Recreation.
