Review of the Australian Apprenticeship Incentive System (Incentive System)

The Australian Government has commenced a Strategic Review of the Australian Apprenticeship Incentive System (Incentive System), including traineeships. As organisations with an interest in the traineeship system in Queensland, AQIA encourages you to participate in the Review that will occur between March and August 2024.

The review of the Incentive System will include investigating:

  • How the Incentive System and complementary services are performing in helping the take up and completion of apprenticeships and traineeships.
  • The effect that cost−of−living pressures is having on apprentices and trainees.
  • How the Apprenticeship System can best support high quality apprenticeships and traineeships, including the roles of government support, workplace conditions and culture, and employers.

It is intended that the review will inform the Australian Government’s longer−term apprenticeships incentive policy settings aligned with priorities in the Employment White Paper, including a focus on meeting net zero targets, care and digital skills needs. More information about the Review, including details about how to contribute, is available at www.dewr.gov.au/apprenticeships-review
