Sports marketers develop and coordinate advertising campaigns, identify market opportunities, and curate content for social media to promote a sports team, club, or company.

  • Reporting, analysing, and identifying key opportunities for marketing improvement across the entity you work for. 
  • Engaging with major selling points of your organisation (players or athletes, merchandise, playing facilities etc.) and using them to your advantage through advertisements or other promotional material.  
  • Managing the use of social media applications such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.

Sports marketers must have a diverse range of skills to be successful in their profession. These attributes could include: 

  • Strong analytical skills.  
  • An ability to multitask effectively.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • An understanding of a large portion of digital platforms.
  • Good communication skills, both in-person and digitally. 
  • Most employers will require 1-2 years of experience in the industry before applying.
